In this work, I took 100 objects that I use in my daily life and put them into identical envelopes. For each one I then wrote a description of the contents on the outside of the envelope and its significance to my daily routine. This description, however, is written in a code that I created, a language of my own made in this particular moment. The letters of the alphabet are rendered as symbols without a key, making them indecipherable to the viewer and overtime to me as well. As time passes the significance of the coded descriptions will slowly break down until the message is completely lost.
The letters, which are usually relied upon to deliver information will be unable to perform their function and are also then creating a comprehensive barrier as well as a physical one to the contained objects. What was part of my daily life are now converted through ambiguity and distance into a piece of art. If the envelopes are ever opened and the objects identified, they will return to being regular objects.
